7th Week of School

We are going to have a 6th grade Geography test this Thursday along with a 7th grade Science test.  Both are on Chapter 2.

Book Fair is this week.

IOWA testing is next week for the 7th grade.  Please be sure all students are present, have breakfast and get plenty of sleep.
There are no science experiments next week and no Study Skills Workshops because of IOWA's... Do you think the students in Iowa, take the MICHIGAN?

There will be a 8th grade test next Wednesday now (Oct.9th) on Chapter 14.

As always the Power Points are on Edline.

We did a wonderfully sweet project today in 7th grade and different candies.  They had to make a plant or animal cell using the candy… I think I was their favorite teacher today.  Here I posted two pics from two of my earlier classes.

Sixth Week of School

Another heart pounding close Michigan game over the weekend… Yikes!  I can’t take it and I don’t know what is going to happen when they start playing Big Ten teams.  Well, at least the Lions won (first time in Washington) and the Tigers are only two games away from clinching the division.

I am thinking 7th & 6th grade test next Thursday (Oct. 3rd)… I want to get them in before IOWA testing which is Oct. 7th-11th.  I can do the 8th grade test the week of IOWA’s since they don’t take them.

There is a $1.00 Jeans Day this Friday and the Cabrini Homecoming is this weekend as well... 7:00 PM.  Go Monarchs!

Fifth Week of School Continued...

There is no school tomorrow.  It is a professional development day for Cabrini teachers.

The new grading software is having some minor conflicts with Edline, however I assure these issues are being resolved.  Also, to be consistent with the High School grades will be posted twice a week (Mondays & Wednesdays).

Have a great three day weekend.  Go Blue!

Fifth Week of School

Wow! Are you kidding me? I felt like I was having déjà vu with the nightmare of Appalachian State all over again but this time it was the Akron Zips; it took me years to recover from that one. Good thing it didn’t go that way and will be an awake up call for Michigan.

At 1,283 views for my blog.

There is no school this Friday (20th).  Therefore, science presentations are Thursday (19th).

September 11, 2013

9/11

As of today I have 1,038 views on my blog; someone is checking it out!  I showed the students it today and about 40% of them are looking, this should be higher (at least twice a week). I told them to put it in their favorites on your computer.  However, it looks like you can’t comment on it unless you have a g-mail account.  It’s free, totally simple to set up and they ask for very little information, but regardless if you have it or not you can always see it.

Also, if you look at you at your child’s grades on Edline/Grade Quick I would like you take note of a couple things… (1) if there is no grade for something, the software places the assignment, test, bell work, etc. as a missing assignment.  It is only a missing assignment if it’s a zero; look at dates. (2) bell work took the place this year for the practice workbook and it’s done pretty regularly as you can tell. It’s only worth 2 points per day and is only 3-5 questions that should only take 10 minutes to do.

Mass is tomorrow.

The 8th grade unit test is tomorrow on Chapter 13.

$1.00 Jeans is Friday.

The weather is going to be milder these next few days, no more sweat box!

Fourth Week of School Continued...

Since it is going to be another super humid day tomorrow Father is letting students have a free dress day.

The 6th Grade Geography Test is tomorrow and 8th Grade Test is Thursday.  The 7th Grade had their Test today.  (I should have them ALL back and posted by Monday)

You might have also noticed that Edline and Grade Quick are up and running so you should have access to grades.  The Wi-Fi was working today too.  Yeah! We really did appreciate your patience.   If you do not have an account with a username and password for Edline; please have your child see Mrs. Chidester ASAP. (This would be most likely new students or 6th Graders).

We also have a $1.00 Jeans Day this Friday.

Fourth Week of School

The first Study Skill Workshop starts tomorrow.  Also, I am going to go back and edit previous blog entries where I list the students doing the Science Experiments that week with adding the title of their experiment.  This is so we try to stay away from doubling up and we can all keep better track of them.  Lastly, if you really need a print out of your child’s grade from Grade Quick I can do that tomorrow just e-mail and request it.  (dkerrcms@yahoo.com) This really isn’t a problem.  I am expecting parents/students to see grades online in the next day or so.  I was able to send grades today.  Your patience is appreciated.

Go Blue! Beat Akron.
