Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey

For extra credit while I am at camp answer these questions on a separate piece of paper from the Cosmos episode Sisters of the Sun (April 27) and turn it in my Friday (May 2nd).  Don't forget to get a parent signature.

1. What is one of the legends of the Pleidis (seven star constellation)?

2. Compare and contrast Annie Jump Cannon and Cecilia Payne in detail... discuss their importance.

3. What are stars mainly made of?

4. What will eventually happen to our Sun and the nearby planets?  Explain its different stages.

5. What is a super-nova?

6. What is a hyper-nova? Give an example.

See you all on Monday May 5th. -Mr. Kerr

6th Grade Camp

6th Grade Parents & Chaperones:

We are leaving for 6th grade YMCA Storer Camp in Napoleon (Jackson area) Monday morning.  Please arrive at your normal time (around 7:40 AM) and park by the playscape near the gym.  The buses should arrive around 8:10-8:15 AM.  As soon as we get the luggage loaded and Father Joe gives us a send off prayer and blessing we will leave.  I am looking at the weather forecast and it looks like it is going to be cold and wet; so dress for the elements.  We will return Friday May 2nd (around 11:45 AM).  6th graders may go home even though it is a whole day for the rest of the school.

*Do not forget that luggage is being loaded in the chaperones vehicles.
*All medication must be given to Miss Winton-Smith, Miss Beattie or myself; except inhalers and epi-pens.
*Students cannot bring electronics or cell phones.
*Chaperones you will be given your roster and driving directions when you get there in the morning.

31st Week of School Continued...

I guess this is me… courtesy of some 8th grade girls... I seem to have baggy pants, red lipstick, no ears and they were very generous with my hair.

Also, there is a $1.00 Jeans Day Friday (not on the calender).
