2nd Week of School

It was so nice to meet many of you at Parent Orientation last week it seems it always is humid and muggy every year… so I thank you for coming out in the heat.  If you weren’t there I stressed a few points…

·         Sign-up for the Remind 101 app as soon as possible (I will be starting group texting after Labor Day).

·         Check this blog at least 1-2 times a week.

·         E-mail is the best way to contact me.

·         Need chaperones for YMCA Storer Camp.

Also, if didn’t hear Father accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and did it in front of the whole Cabrini School Thursday... He called out everyone who doesn’t go to Sunday mass regularly.

No School Friday (29^th) or Monday (Labor Day).

Experiment start September 5^th.

First Day of School

Happy first day of school...

Thank you Mrs. Kamen, Mrs. Metzger, & Mrs. Bonsall for being the first parents to go to the Remind 101 app... Yeah!  I will be explaining that more tomorrow and Thursday at Parent Orientation.

Also, I appreciate Mrs. Sollars & Mrs. Choma for already volunteering for 6th Grade Science Camp... you can do that as soon as possible.

As you heard I was not in school today... I had a wedding in Charlevoix for a Wedding yesterday at Castle Farms... unbelievably gorgeous.  I had never heard of it before and what I also never heard of was back in the 70's, 80's and early 90's it was a concert venue where everyone from Van Halen, to Metallica, to Iron Maiden, to AC/DC, to Ozzy, to Ted Nugent, Bon Jovi, Foreigner, Styx, Journey and the list goes on and on preformed there... very cool.  Well, since I knew I wasn't going to be at school many many moons ago over the summer I put together a DVD for today as if I was there doing what I normally would do.  I spent a lot a time on it.  The kids saw it today.  I noticed later I left out a few things but I will go over them tomorrow and be giving out text books as well.

Remind 101 app

Dear Parents & Students:

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacation so far… August 18^th will be here before you know it.  I am getting more and more ready for school a little bit each day.  Therefore, most of you who know me know that I believe in good communication especially with parents.  I say the more the better so along with Edline, my blog and Power Points I am adding another creative way of using technology… it is called Remind 101.  If you go to the these websites http://www.remind.com/join/0b3a9 (if you have a child in 7th grade) or http://www.remind.com/join/4f217 (if you have a child in in 8th grade) and join (it’s free!) you will receive updates via text message on your smart phone from me about what’s going in the class… sounds good to me. For example if there is a test the next day I will send you a group text or if I need certain supplies for my class, etc. etc.… it’s perfectly safe and not only can parents do it, but students as well.  I can send group texts to individual grades 8^th and/or 7^th or everyone that joins.  I highly recommend that you register.   I will remind you again when school starts.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4^th of July!

What great weather for the weekend… My family and I went up to our cabin in Lewiston and had some fun at Ostego Lake near Gaylord.  It is always wonderful time.  Here is a cute pic of our journey home with my backseat co-pilot; don't say R-I-D-E unless you really mean it.  Max had a blast!
